I first met Rachel and Rich about a year previously when, after a preliminary "get to know you" drink, they decided they wanted an engagement shoot in Richmond Park. This served 2 purposes, firstly so we could get to know each other better and they could get used to being in front of a camera and secondly so they could send out some save the date cards to Rachel's family and friends, most of whom came from Chicago in the USA. As a couple it's no understatement to say that they were an absolute delight. Easy to get on with and comfortable in front of the camera, when a couple are focussed on just each other and pretty much forget that a lens is pointing at them then you know that the pictures you take will be totally 100% natural. From a photography point of view it really doesn't get any better than that.
Fast forward to their wedding day and everything ran incredibly smoothly. From the Bridal prep in the morning to the wonderful ceremony conducted by Sophie at True Promise Ceremonies, we couldn't have asked for a better day. Even the forecasted rain decided to stay away which meant we could stick to the original plan of having the service outside.
After that it was time for a few canapés and refreshments before the 3 of us went off to explore some of the many nooks and crannies that can be found dotted around the Ravenswood's fantastic grounds. From the old boathouse to a fantastical woodland hideaway, we were spoilt for choice. As Rachel and Rich had already spent time with me the year before, today they were super relaxed and had no qualms about having a camera pointed at them. They just "got it" and we were able to capture some great shots before we rejoined the wedding party.
Talking of parties, I've always said that the guests are such an important part of a wedding. They bring so much in terms of atmosphere and energy and Rachel and Rich's family and friends from both sides of the Atlantic were all on great form, filling the room with smiles and laughter long into the night.
All in all, it was a day to remember and was superbly brought together by the team at the Ravenswood. Rachel and Rich are a truly wonderful couple and I'd like to thank them for having me along for the ride to capture their big day for them. Below are just a handful of images that hopefully give just the briefest of glimpses into their big day.
Oh, and one more thing. GO BEARS! (It's a Chicago thing...)
