Some words and images on the details that go into making your wedding day so unique...
When you get married there are the big traditional things to consider like where you’re going to do the deed, who you’re going to invite (do we really need Auntie Joan to come bearing in mind she’s 103 and how much do I really like Nigel in accounts?) and then oh my goodness the dress, what about the dress?! All scary and daunting stuff and once its all organized you really will deserve a nice cup of tea and a sit down.
But then you get to thinking about the other things.
“What other things?” your better half* will no doubt say through a mouthful of Hob Nob.
The detail. I’m talking about the detail. The little things that stamp your personality on the day and that give your guests more of a sense of you, your story and what makes you tick. Like colour scheme, flowers, table names, table favours (I didn’t know these were even a thing until I got married), guest books and maybe a sweetie table. Yes, I said a sweetie table. You should definitely do that.
These are the type of things that you can spend hours agonizing over and yet come the big day you won't have a moment to appreciate. That’s why when I photograph a wedding one of the areas I absolutely make time for are all the little bits of detail that help make your day so unique. I’ve seen loads of great ideas, some simple, some ingenious but all had a common thread, they truly gave a sense of who the happy couple were and what brought them together.
So if you find yourself a guest at a wedding, do take a moment to appreciate all the finer points because a lot of thought with maybe the odd heated discussion has gone into them as the couple are telling you a little bit about themselves that you may not already know. As the title of this post says it’s the little things that give you away.

*This is obviously aimed at the chaps. A lady would never speak with her mouth full.
